Ara de Haro (pseudonym of Amparo Serrano de Haro) is a novelist, essayist, short story
writer, and scholar specializing in art history, in particular in women artists. Her novels
include Ciudades en las que un día naufragamos, El color de tu nombre, Mujeres de mármol,
and Nocturno en Nueva York, which was translated into German and published in Germany as
well as in Spain. Her bio-novel La luna de Artemesia, based on the life of the Italian baroque
painter Artemesia Gentileschi, received the Marguerite Yourcenar Prize in 2013. In 2019, she
published a biography, Vida de Remedios Varo. Her stories have appeared in numerous
collections. She has lectured at the Prado Museum, the Thyssen Foundation, the March
Foundation, and at several American and European universities.
